“Coaches will be noted if there are data differences in an emergency,” Wang Hongsen, a member of the Zhangjiakou Olympic Winter Village leadership team, told Chinese newspaper The Paper.

Smart beds are of course equipped with memory foam mattresses.

“When the athlete is lying on the bed, the mattress automatically adjusts according to the curves of their body to keep them in the most comfortable state,” Wang said.

The beds are also adjustable and can therefore be moved to different positions to provide the best support for the human spine. Wang said the adjustments can distribute pressure throughout the body, promote blood circulation and help release tension in athletes after their events.

“For example, you can use the remote control to adjust the angle of your legs or your head if you want when you are lying on the bed depending on what you are doing like sleeping, reading or just watching TV,” Wang said.

The bed is 1.2 meters wide and 2 meters long. With white as the base tone, the headboard is decorated in light blue. The bed is covered with bedding printed with the emblem of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The Village consists of 10 groups of 31 buildings, each group consisting of three to four small buildings around a courtyard.
