Doha: Aspetar has released its latest sports medicine collection publication titled ‘Champion’s Journey’ by Prof. NebojÅ¡a Popović (pictured) in which the author recounted his sports career and his journey in sports medicine.

The book, according to Aspetar in a tweet, answers the following questions: Are champions born or created and what motivates them to push their limits? What are the risks and dangers of high-level competitive sport? Can a high-level athlete pursue studies? How to prepare for life after sport? What will the future of sport look like?

“Professor Popović’s rich experience, organized into 10 chapters, will give young sports medicine professionals, athletes, parents, coaches and anyone interested in sport a high-level insight into the world of sport. level and sports medicine”, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital said.
The author is a former professional athlete and Olympic gold medalist in 1972, then became an orthopedic surgeon.

Professor Popović is currently Senior Medical Advisor in the Office of the General Manager of Aspetar and Editor-in-Chief of the Aspetar Sports Medicine Journal.

In a statement from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade, he said: “Through the lines and pages of this unique book, Professor Popović presented his sporting and medical challenges, battles and victories, showing how two professional loves, medicine and sports, together we can create a magnificent and lasting career.Professor Popović is a donor at the said university.

Professor Popović is a former handball player who competed for Yugoslavia in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal in the sport at the 1972 Olympics in Munich and in the European Champions League of 1976 with his club.

Before moving to Qatar in 2007, he was Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Clinical Head of the Departments of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the Center Hospitalier Universitaire de Liège in Belgium.
