LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It was another big day for Arkansas athletes on Tuesday with a gold medal in Special Olympics USA competition.

Stephanie Price of Fort Smith won gold in the 1,500 meters on the track. The gold medal completes her personal best set earlier this year.

More good news as Becky Carter of Little Rock qualified for the final of the 200 yard freestyle event.

To date, Arkansas Special Olympics has won one gold, two bronze and two 5e place ribbons in this week’s competition. In addition to Price’s gold, the state delegation has a bronze medal to Amy Price of Fort Smith in the 400 meters, a bronze medal to Ben Prousnitzer in the 500 meters freestyle and 5e place ribbons to Keith Lertpenmaeta of Bryant and Robert Jones of Jonesboro at Bocce.

The Special Olympics USA Games are taking place in Florida through June 12 with more than 20,000 athletes from all 50 states and the Caribbean competing.
