NEW COMMITMENT: Qualifier of futures contracts Paige armstrong from St. Charles, Illinois, will soon qualify as a Wildcat after making a verbal commitment to the University of Arizona starting in the fall of 2022.
she will join Alexis newman and Eleni Gewalt as a member of the Wildcats class of 2026.
She said Swimming world:

A domineering and talented freestyle swimmer, Armstrong trains year round with the Saint Charles swim team and recently placed 18th in the 200 backstroke at the Pleasant Prairie Sectionals in July. Returning in the winter, she finished eighth in the 200m backstroke at the Illinois winter championships and finished two times in the top 10 at the Illinois seniors in 2020.
His best moments include:
- 100 back – 55.93
- 200 return – 2: 01.46
- 200 free – 1: 50.27
- 500 free – 4: 59.50
Also competing for St. Charles North High School, Armstrong won the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle and finished second in the 500 freestyle at the IHSA sectional championships as a junior. She placed 12th in the 200 freestyle in her sophomore season and at the Illinois State Championships.
Armstrong is a great pickup for the Wildcats, who finished seventh at the 2021 Pac-12 championships. She would have been one of their best backstroke players last season and will join a practice squad led by Julia heimstead, Azana Merckx, Maddy Burt, and Grace Anderson.
